Abstract

The total Raman or fluorescence scattering efficiency of molecules distributed radial symmetrically in the vicinity of spherical dielectric particles is investigated theoretically. This external scattering efficiency is compared with the internal efficiency of molecules distributed inside the particle. Especially the structural resonances in the external efficiency are investigated for different characteristics of inelastic dipole emission: the directed emission, where the dipoles are induced parallel to the exciting electric field, and the isotropic emission of orientation-averaged dipoles.
