Abstract

Iodine spectra were photographed in the 104–260-Å region with a triggered spark source. I ix and I x spectra were investigated. In the I ix spectrum earlier results [J. Opt. Soc. Am. 70, 1344 (1979) ] were confirmed, except that the 4d8(1S0)2P3/2 level, 1 additional level in the 4d85p configuration, 33 levels belonging to the 4d84f configuration, and 2 levels of the 4p54d10 configuration were established. Fifty-five additional lines were classified in the I ix spectrum. In the I x spectrum the earlier values of 3P0 and 1S0 of the ground configuration 4d8 and four levels of the odd-parity configurations [J. Opt. Soc. Am. B 14, 1013 (1997) ] were rejected. 3P0 and 1S0 of the ground-state configuration and five new levels of the odd-parity configurations were established. Sixteen new lines were classified in the I x spectrum. Hartree-Fock calculations with relativistic corrections and least-squares fit parametric calculations were carried out for both spectra for interpretation of the observed energy-level schemes.
