Beam propagation in a medium with a diffusive Kerr-type nonlinearity

Abstract

Evolution equations are formulated for optical propagation in a medium with a diffusive Kerr-type nonlinearity. Diffusion is shown to have a marked effect on self-defocusing, even for beam widths of several diffusion lengths.
