Abstract
We present guiding measurements of 0.8-μm, 100-fs pulses through LiF microcapillaries using discharge plasma. We inspect the transmission at conditions fit for soft-x-ray lasing. While up to 45% transmission is observed for input intensities of 1×1018W/cm2, only ~2% of the energy is contained in the small guided mode of 25 μm (FWHM). We investigate the dependence of the guiding on input intensity and focusing geometry. The transmission decreases for unmatched focal spots and as the intensity increases.
