Abstract

The second-harmonic spectrum from pyroelectric and ferrimagnetic GaFeO3 has been observed under several configurations of polarized light and has been theoretically analyzed based on the microscopic model of ligand field theory for the Fe3+ ion. The linear Kerr rotation spectrum has been observed and used to supplement the microscopic model.
