Abstract

The nonlinear dynamics of a streamer discharge in semiconductors have been analyzed with allowance for the processes of impact, tunnel, and photoelectric ionization and the processes of radiative spontaneous and stimulated recombination. It is shown that under these conditions various self-oscillations can arise, and spatially inhomogeneous dissipative structures can be formed as a result of discharge self-organization. The dynamic regimes considered provide a means for the formation of an indestructible streamer that has a space–time structure and propagates with a high velocity comparable with the phase velocity of light.
