The mode-locking performance of a diode-pumped $\mathrm{Nd}:{\mathrm{Lu}}_{0.15}{\mathrm{Y}}_{0.85}\mathrm{V}{\mathrm{O}}_4$ laser is first demonstrated with a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM). Stable mode-locking with the pulse duration of $5.1\mathrm{ps}$ and the repetition rate of $106\mathrm{MHz}$ is achieved. An output power of $7\mathrm{W}$ is obtained at a pump power of $20\mathrm{W}$ , corresponding to an optical conversion efficiency of 35%. The maximum mode-locked pulse energy is estimated to be $66\mathrm{nJ}$ with the peak power of $12.9\mathrm{kW}$ .
