Comments on the effect of the ponderomotive potential in the above-threshold ionization processes

Abstract

We discuss the effect of a laser field on the ionization potential of atoms and compare the ponderomotive-potential interpretation of the apparent threshold shift with experimental results of the above-threshold ionization of noble-gas atoms.
