Production of laser radiation in aligned crystal targets

Abstract

A number of proposals for the generation of short-wavelength laser radiation by high-energy particles in crystals are examined. Calculation of the gain for each of these proposals indicates that the prospect for observing coherent radiation in such a system is not large.
