Transverse-mode selection in a para-H2 Raman laser with multiple reflection passes

Abstract

We have investigated theoretically the transverse-phase effect during the growth of the Stokes field in a multiple-pass Raman cell. The results explain why only the TEM00 mode is spontaneously selected for Stokes conversion in a para-H2 Raman laser.
