Abstract

Mixtures of rare gases and cesium fluoride vapors were excited by an intense relativistic electron beam. The fluorescence of the Cs2+F− ionic excimer radiation at 184.5 nm was studied. The emission spectra and the time-resolved fluorescence intensity were measured. The dependence of the emission on CsF vapor pressure and rare-gas pressure has also been investigated. A discussion of the kinetics of the upper-state excitation process is provided.
