JOSA B Feature Announcement
Quantum Optical Information Technologies
Submission Deadline: 1 December 2009
Remarkable recent advances in controlling systems at the quantum level warrants a special issue by the Journal of the Optical Society of America B (JOSA B) that will bring together leading specialists within the framework of one of the world's leading optical journals. Spectacular results have emerged from a cross-fertilization of ideas between quantum optics, atomic and molecular physics, and condensed-matter physics. These results have reached the point where quantum-based technologies (such as quantum computing and information processing) appear very promising. This feature issue will bring together scientists who are actively researching towards the realization of quantum information processing and other quantum technologies with special focus on photonic implementations. Original theoretical and experimental papers are solicited from all current areas of work. These can include, but are not limited to the following topics:
- quantum networks--quantum light sources, matter-photon interfaces, quantum memories and repeaters
- quantum processing--implementations using trapped ions and atoms, ultracold polar molecules, cavity quantum electrodynamics, circuit quantum electrodynamics
- quantum simulators based on photons, ions, or atoms
- hybrid quantum computation
- quantum metrology and quantum sensors
- continuous measurement and feedback control
- optimal-control-theory-based techniques for quantum computing and state preparation
Manuscripts must be prepared according to the usual standards for submission to JOSA B and will be peer reviewed; see the Information for Contributors in any printed issue or the OSA Style Guide: http://www.opticsinfobase.org/josab/submit/style/jrnls_style.cfm. Manuscripts must also be uploaded through OSA's electronic submission system: http://www.opticsinfobase.org/ao/journal/josab/author.cfm. Please specify that the manuscript is for the Quantum Optical Information Technologies feature (choose from the feature issue drop-down menu).
