Abstract

This paper analyzes the instrumental errors in measuring the distances between the correlation peaks in a hybrid joint-transform correlator intended for the identification of documents and securities with optical marks containing transformed phase masks. An estimate is made of the efficiency with which transformed phase masks are identified in the correlator by the isolation and classification of their geometrical attributes on the basis of the Neyman-Pearson criterion.
