Telescopic sights equipped with rangefinders

Abstract

This paper is a brief report on how external conditions, the type of weapon and ammunition that are used, and the aiming method affect the results of firing. It is shown that the sighting accuracy sharply increases when a telescopic sight is used, but it is necessary to have information on the range to determine the sighting angle and the lead angle. A brief review is given of telescopic sights supplied with information on the range, beginning with the use of a nonfixed-base rangefinder and ending with a laser rangefinder. © 2005 Optical Society of America
