Abstract

This paper discusses the spectral properties of microstructured optical fibers with cores composed on quartz glass, formed by the replacement of the seven central elements in the hexagonal structure. It is shown that fibers with a seven-element core have an advantage in stability against bending of the lightguide channel by comparison with those in which the core is represented by a single element.
