Abstract
This paper is devoted to an analysis of the technique of calculating the parameters of a superluminescent fiber radiator (SFR) based on single-mode fiber doped with erbium ions and the optimization of the parameters of the radiator for developing a fiber-optic gyroscope (FOG) with improved accuracy characteristics. The causes of the phase distortions that limit the attainment of the threshold sensitivity of the FOG are discussed, and the problem of choosing the optimum parameters of the phase layout of an FOG using an SFR is solved.
