Abstract

This paper presents the design of a ruling engine for cutting diffraction gratings equipped with a cutter-control system that makes it possible to vary the length of the lines of the ruled grating along its width. The control system stabilizes the operation of the ruling engine when original diffraction gratings are fabricated with a ruled zone of nonrectangular shape. The characteristics of grating–polarizers fabricated on the indicated machine are presented.
