Abstract

This review presents information on three generations of foreign-made thermal viewers, developed in recent decades and used in various spheres of activity. The data on thermal viewers are systematized mainly from the materials of international exhibits in the period 1993-2002 in Abu Dhabi, Paris, Orlando, and other cities. A classification is given of thermal viewers according to size-and-mass parameters, and features of the development of work on creating thermal viewers are considered. Tables are given with the technical characteristics of a number of thermal viewers.
