Abstract
This paper discusses the thermal stability of optical quartz fiber in a tin coating at a temperature of 180-200 °C, close to the melting temperature of tin. The mechanical strength of the quartz fiber was measured by the bending method. It is shown that the strength is reduced by comparison with the value measured at room temperature but remains higher than the strength of quartz fiber in a polymeric coating.
