Abstract

This paper discusses the general approach of modelling the amplitude-phase spectra of the reflectance R and transmittance T of light by single-layer Fabry-Perot interferometers by the method of envelopes as functions of the reflectance R_min,max and transmittance T_min,max at the interference extrema. A basis is provided for the method of determining the instrumental characteristics of interferometers at the level of the half-sum of the coefficients 1/2(R_max + R_min) and 1/2(T_max + T_min). © 2004 Optical Society of America
