Abstract
The two main acoustooptic (AO) Bragg diffraction regimes that can be implemented in a uniaxial crystal on the basis of the same AO cell and at a single sound frequency are compared for problems of the most efficient control of the degree of coherence of partially coherent optical radiation. It is theoretically and experimentally shown that the better regime is that characterized by a larger angle of incidence of light on the wave front of the acoustic wave. © 2004 Optical Society of America
