Abstract

This paper proposes a way to construct a compact two-coordinate device for aiming a laser beam with an antenna section that is movable in a large range of angles and a fixed transmitter-receiver section. A mathematical analysis is carried out of how well a subscriber's offset angles correspond to the position of the illumination spot from the subscriber's beacon in the plane of the coordinate sensor. A prototype of a terminal of a laser communication line has been created in which a CCD array was used as the coordinate sensor. © 2004 Optical Society of America
