Abstract

This paper presents a brief analysis of the statistical properties of the destabilizing factors in optical ranging systems. The distribution function is found for two simultaneously acting multiplicative factors the probability density of each of which is described by a gamma distribution. The connection between the variation coefficients of the resulting and input distribution functions is determined. Examples of numerical calculations are given.© 2004 Optical Society of America
