Abstract

The processes of flare energy release, plasma heating, and particle acceleration and the modulation of optical and rf radiations and x rays in coronal magnetic arcs on the sun and stars are described by representing the arc as a cavity for magnetohydrodynamic waves, equivalent to an electric circuit and a trap with magnetic stoppers. © 2005 Optical Society of America
