Abstract

This paper discusses the possibilities of detecting geobotanical anomalies using the multizonal remote data of the apparatus of the Landsat-7 satellite when an ore manifestation and anthropogenic emissions act on vegetation in combination. The results of the measurements are interpreted on the basis of a model of how stresses develop in plants. The following parameters (indices) that characterize the status of the vegetation are determined: the total stress index (the inverse vegetation index) and the set of partial stress indices - as the reaction of plants in various spectral channels to inhibiting action. Criteria are proposed for distinguishing different phases of the inhibition of plants and the extent to which a detected geobotanical anomaly is expressed. © 2005 Optical Society of America
