Abstract

This paper discusses the action of directed flows of gamma radiation onto glass samples that extend in the direction of radiation propagation. An experimental technique has been developed for determining the kinetic and dose parameters of the post-radiation isothermal relaxation functions of the absorption of radiation color centers in optical glasses. It is shown that, by comparison with the traditional technique, the newly developed technique makes it possible to substantially reduce the number of irradiations of the samples and to enhance the accuracy and detail of the results. For the post-radiation isothermal kinetics of the absorption relaxation of color centers that obey a logarithmic law, an equation has been obtained that determines how the normalized absorption-relaxation rate depends on the time elapsed since the end of the gamma irradiation. The new experimental and theoretical results obtained in this paper are used to investigate TF5 lead-silicate glass.
