Abstract

The specific breakdown energies of a number of building materials have been experimentally determined, using laser radiation at wavelengths 1.06 and 10.6 μm. Using SiO2-containing materials as an example, the density dependence of their energy parameters of laser breakdown is recorded. It is shown that graphs of the variation of the specific breakdown energy with variation of the density of the material are described by a parabolic dependence for both radiations and differ only in their magnitudes.
