Nonlinear Poisson model of photoelectric detection

Abstract
The output signal of a photodetector is considered from the viewpoint of the theory of Markov processes of proliferation and annihilation. Expressions are obtained for the first two moments of the signal, the sensitivity threshold, and the dynamic range.
