Using indium in optical instrumentation

Abstract

A technology has been developed for soldering metals and nonmetals by means of pure indium or indium alloys. Optical elements made from germanium, silicon, quartz, glass-ceramic, and glass, soldered to mounts made from aluminum alloys, titanium, and Invar have been fabricated and tested.
