Abstract
This paper presents the main development trends of modern foreign light microscopes of development and manufacturing companies. Advanced technologies are stimulating the creation of new optoelectronic, digital, and motorized systems of light microscopes and promoting the development of natural and technical sciences. The tendency to increase the resolving power of light microscopes results in a transition to a new qualitative level of designing the microscope’s entire optical system, starting from the light source all the way to the sensitive image-reproduction element. The same tendency produces an increase of new research methods, such as relief contrast and methods based on laser technologies. The redistribution of production efforts makes it possible for the leading firms, which determine the development trends of light microscopy, to concentrate on high-tech and high-resolution models of microscopes.
