Abstract

This paper discusses a method of increasing the sensitivity of a fiber-optic hydrophone by forming coatings on the sensitive part of the fiber. The results of sensitivity measurements are presented for certain types of coatings. The experimental results showed that, by using special coatings, the sensitivity can be increased by 25–30 dB by comparison with a fiber in a standard polyacrylate coating.
