Abstract

This paper discusses transmissive ruled diffraction gratings. Recommendations are given concerning the choice of their design and parameters that provide high diffraction efficiency in the specified spectral region, in particular for determining the optimum line frequencies. Examples are given of diffraction gratings actually used for the UV, visible, and IR regions, and it is shown that there is good correlation between their calculated and experimental characteristics.
