Abstract

An erratum is presented to correct the power coupling efficiencies of the incident beam to the fiber modes.

] we calculated the power coupling efficiency of the incident beam to the m-th mode of the fiber according to Eq. (2) and the results were presented in Fig. 2. We recently discovered that our calculation used incorrect values of Hm*. We have corrected the error and the revised result is shown in Fig. 1 . The three highest-coupled modes are presented in Fig. 1. The new result shows that the incident beam which is linearly polarized along the x-axis only excites the x-polarized modes. A dominant power is coupled into the HE11X mode, which achieves a highest coupling efficiency of 88.3% when ω0/ ab=0.65.
