This issue of Optics Express takes advantage of the typical late summer slowdown in submissions. We are using the opportunity and the color graphics capabilities of Optics Express to announce and pre-publish three articles that are included in a forthcoming release in OSA’s Classic Reprints on CD-ROM Series.

The series is entitled “On Minnaert’s Shoulders: Twenty Years of Light and Color Conferences.” The new volume, edited by Charles L. Adler of St. Mary’s College of Maryland, offers a striking collection of color images in papers on topics including Rainbows, Ice crystal halos, Mirages and Illusions. The three articles presented here are from a 1998 Applied Optics feature issue.
