Selected Papers from ECOC 2013

Submission Deadline: 7 October 2013

Postdeadline Paper Submission Deadline: 4 November 2013

To be Published: January 2014

ECOC is the largest conference on optical communication in Europe and one of the most prestigious and long-standing events in this field worldwide. ECOC 2013, to be held in London, 22-26 September 2013, will be the 39th edition, showing the continued relevance of this conference.

ECOC 2013 will present current scientific work as well as major innovation and the latest developments in optical devices in present and future telecommunication systems and networks. The scope of the conference is represented by six subcommittees:

  1. Fibres, Fibre Devices, and Amplifiers
  2. Waveguide and Optoelectronic Devices
  3. Subsystems for Optical Networks and Datacomms
  4. Point to Point Transmission Systems
  5. Optical Transport and Large Scale Data Networks
  6. Access, Local Area and Data Center Networks
  7. This special issue, to appear in Optics Express, will feature papers selected by the ECOC 2013 Subcommittee Chairs. The title and author list of manuscripts submitted to the journal can be identical to the title and author list of the corresponding ECOC proceedings paper; however, the manuscript submitted to Optics Express will undergo peer review. Substantial and/or significant new information should be added to the 3-page paper originally submitted to the ECOC 2013 conference. Authors are strongly encouraged to keep submissions limited to 8-10 pages in order to facilitate a quick peer review process.

It is envisioned that this third ECOC-Optics Express Special Issue will highlight the most significant developments in the optical communications field. Other ECOC authors are welcome to submit their work to Optics Express as a regular submission, separate from the special issue.

Manuscripts must be prepared according to the usual standards for submission to Optics Express and must be uploaded through OSA's online submissions system. Submissions received after 7 October cannot be guaranteed to be completed in time for the special issue. Articles will be published as they are completed beginning in mid-December. Articles completed after the issue is published will be included in the next available issue of Optics Express and linked to the ECOC 2013 collection. Normal Optics Express article processing charges will apply to all published articles:

    • $1049 - 6 or fewer published pages
    • $1795 - 7 to 15 published pages
    • Manuscripts longer than 15 pages will incur an additional fee of $145 for each page beyond 15

If you have not submitted manuscripts to OSA journals in the past you will be asked to create a new user account. When providing the information for your paper, be sure to choose "ECOC 2013" in the Category drop down menu, as well as the appropriate ECOC subcategory in the Feature Issues section. The submission system will require you to suggest three referees for your manuscript and to search for them in OSA's database by email address. All submissions to the special issue will be reviewed by members of the ECOC 2013 Technical Program Committees, so feel free to use their names in this section. Finally, be sure to enter your paper's ECOC 2013 document number in the comment box on the File Upload page.
