Abstract
A reversible 16-fold increase in the long-wavelength (633-nm) photorefractive sensitivity of bismuth silicon oxide is observed to occur when the crystal temperature is elevated to 300°C. This temperature-enhanced sensitivity in the red dramatically extends the wavelength range over which these crystals respond efficiently.
