Abstract

Room-temperature operation of a continuous-wave Tm-sensitized Ho:YAG laser at 2.0974 μm has been achieved under diode-laser pumping at 781.5 nm. Observed thresholds are as low as 4.4 mW, with a slope efficiency of 19% with 0.5% output coupling.
