Abstract

We present results obtained from a numerical simulation of a colliding-pulse mode-locked dye laser and study the influence of group-velocity dispersion on the pulse characteristics. It is found that positive third-order dispersion can help to shorten the pulse duration and to reduce the dependence of energy and pulse duration on pump power.
