Abstract

In the presence of pump absorption, soliton amplification with erbium-doped fibers is no longer reciprocal with respect to the interchange between the relative direction of propagation of signal and pump. We present a numerical analysis of the influence of pump absorption on the temporal and spectral characteristics and on the energy amplification factor of picosecond and femtosecond signals.
