Instability of the resonance enhancement of moving photorefractive gratings

Abstract

It is shown that a resonance-enhanced moving grating in a photorefractive crystal is unstable against the growth of weakly damped space-charge waves. The threshold of the instability and the rate of exponential growth of the waves are found.
