Abstract
A power conversion efficiency of 2% has been achieved for frequency tripling the CO2 laser R(6) line at 1069 cm−1 in liquid CO–O2 mixtures in tight focusing geometry. Phase matching by the addition of the positively dispersive SF6 molecule to the CO–O2 mixtures has been demonstrated. Potential limitations to the conversion efficiency are discussed.
