Abstract

I report the exact solitary wave solutions in the coupled-wave-carrier system of a semiconductor waveguide in which the loss and the index distributions have a sech2(x) form and the pump carrier distribution has a sech4(x) form in the lateral direction. Under certain pumping levels the saturated gain balances the loss and the index guiding balances the diffraction and the carrier antiguiding, which lead to exact solitary solutions. The width of the mode depends on the carrier diffusion length, and the power of the supported mode depends on the pump current.
