Abstract

We report the experimental investigation of pure rotational coherent anti-Stokes Raman transitions using a computerized coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS) system. Spectra were obtained from atmospheric air, N2, and O2 from 1 atm to subTorr pressures. Frequency rejection of ω1 and ω3 was accomplished by crossing the input beams, which were perpendicularly polarized. Applications of the pure rotational CARS for temperature and species concentration measurement are discussed.
