A high resolution magneto-optical system for imaging of individual magnetic flux quantaPublished in Optics Express, Vol. 17 Issue 18, pp.16160-16165 (2009) |
Spotlight summary: A magneto-optical system capable of imaging individual magnetic flux quanta at the surface of a type II superconductor is presented, and basics of what is being done and what is impressive about it are easy to appreciate even for scientists who are not experts in that area. This system achieves resolutions comparable to those of nonoptical techniques such as electron microscopy or magnetic force microscopy but allows much faster measurements over significantly larger areas. Vortex array imaging ranging from one up to several thousand vortices is possible.
