Spotlight Summary by
Double photonic bandgap hollow-core photonic crystal fiber
Simultaneous formation of the two bandgaps were demonstrated in air-core photonics crystal fibers, leading to intriguing possibility of transporting laser frequency pairs, core-pumped fiber gas lasers, and parametric frequency conversion. The study offers very interesting insights on the mechanisms responsible for the simultaneous bandgaps formation, and it reports fabrication of a fiber with truly impressive structural features.
