Design and demonstration of high-Q photonic heterostructure nanocavities suitable for integration
The authors present a detailed theoretical study of very compact photonic crystal nanocavity designs with Q factors of the order of ten million. Their small size makes them suitable for dense integration. Potential applications include ultrasmall wavelength filters, compact optical-buffer memories, environmental sensors, and novel emitters.
