Free Optics InfoBase Registration

All personalization features are now freely available to all users, not just paid subscribers. Creating an OSA account is free and will only take a few minutes of your time. All researchers can take advantage of the following features by logging in: Saved Search Alerts, Table of Content Alerts, Personal Library, Activity Reports, and Subscription Status.

Saved Search Alerts

Saved Search Alerts allows researchers to be notified when specific articles are published by OSA. When an article is published that matches your Alert criteria, you will be sent an e-mail or RSS feed notifying you of the new article. Access your Saved Search Alerts from the My InfoBase page. To manage your Alerts, click on the "Saved Search" link. A table of any existing Alerts will appear.

To create a new Alert, select "Create New Alert." You may then name your alert and select the items it will include. Alerts can be specified according to OCIS keywords, Journals, Authors, and/or keywords.

Also, a new Saved Search Alert can be created directly from the search results page.

To edit an Alert, select the "Edit" Action next to the alert you would like to change. Once you have updated the Alert criteria, select "Update Alert" to save your changes.

To delete an Alert, select the "Delete" Action next to the alert you would like to remove. You will be asked to confirm the deletion of this Alert. If you are sure you would like to permanently remove the alert, select "Delete Alert." If you do not want to delete the alert, be sure to select "Cancel."

Table of Content Alerts

To register for the Table of Content Alerts, simply select the publications you are interested in. You will receive an alert when the issue is complete. To unsubscribe, select the journals you would like to cancel. For notifications on articles published in a forthcoming issue, please use our enhanced Saved Search feature.

Personal Library

The Optics InfoBase allows you to create personal library of articles online. Access your Personal Library from the My InfoBase page. Select the "Library" link and a table of your personal library collections will appear.

To create a new collection of articles, select "Create New Collection." You will then have the opportunity to name the collection, and it will be added to your table.

To add an article to a Collection, you must be on a Search Results page. (For more information about searching article, please visit the "Search" entry in the Help Index.) Select an article by checking the box to the left of it, and then selecting the "Save Selected Article in Personal Library" button. You will then have the option to select the Collection in which it belongs, or to create a new Collection for it.

To delete an article from a Collection, click on the name of the collection you would like to amend. Check the boxes next to the article you would like to delete, and then select the "Remove Selected Articles" button.

To delete an entire Collection of articles, select the "Delete" Action next to the Collection you would like to remove. If you are sure you would like to permanently remove the alert, select "Delete Collection." If you do not want to delete the collection, be sure to select "Cancel."

Activity Reports

Activity Reports record your downloads on the InfoBase website. Access your Activity Reports from the My InfoBase page. To view a record of your access report, click on the "Activity Reports" link and enter the start and end dates of the time period you would like to recall. Click Submit. A table will appear, organized by date, listing the articles you have accessed using Optics InfoBase.

Subscription Status

Subscription Status records which publications you have subscribed to and when you subscriptions expire. Access your Subscription Status from the My InfoBase page. A table will appear including all of the publications you have subscribed to as well as beginning and end dates of your subscription.
